Getting back into a fitness routine

So the new year new me thing may have worn off of some people by now. A lot of the times we start something but never follow through all the way like we would like to. Did you fall off of your routine & are stuck? We wait until the beginning of the year to start our working out and eating healthy. Most people stick to it & some fall off after a couple of weeks.

What keeps you inspired to sticking to your fitness & nutrition goals? I look back as my last show and how lean I was and how I could actually see my abs and I want to get back to that but actually stay there. I know I can do it if I reverse correctly. See what makes you inspired & look at it everyday or set it as your background on your phone so you see it multiple times a day.

It is so important you get into a routine and a great schedule everyday so you don’t fall off track. We all start somewhere. It is very important that you figure out what you like. Not everyone enjoys lifting weights. There are other types of workouts that you can do to get your heart rate up and burning fat.

Set goals for yourself. When you have reached that goal of losing 5 or 10 pounds reward yourself.

Find out what works best for you. What makes you happy. Maybe it is a group fitness class, pilates, spin class, swimming, lifting weights, HIIT workouts. Try out different types and see which you like best.

Have a workout buddy to keep you accountable. Both of y’all plan to go to the gym everyday at a certain time. When you have a friend to go with it makes you not want to cancel on them. They will be there to help push you through your workout and make it enjoyable.

Think of why you started. What are your goals that you are trying to accomplish. Are you trying to get fit for yourself or health reasons?

Never give up because you can’t do something. If you are having trouble with the weight or movement, drop the weight and slow down and really control your workouts.

Make it a lifestyle. Don’t do it because you think you have to. Do it because it is what you want to do.

When you have a set routine everyday it makes it easier to not make impulsive decisions. Like going out for drinks on a Tuesday.

Think about what you are putting into your body. Yes we all have cravings and it is fine to have those in MODERATION but your body does not need that. Make sure you are meal planning so it is easy for you to grab something to eat and quick for you when you have such a busy schedule.

When I started getting into fitness and caring about what I ate, it changed my life. I feel so amazing now and look way better. I am not under eating or over eating I am eating what is right for my body. When I go out to eat I make the right decisions. I chose to get chicken and rice with a salad or steak. Something healthy and that is good for my body. Not chicken fried chicken that I know as soon as I finish eating it I will feel awful and it will make me so sick.

My January Favorites

January FavoritesI can’t believe January has come and gone. Where has the time gone? It was just NYE. I thought I would start doing a favorites post at the end of every month & just let you know what I have tried and liked.

1. Kopari Glossy I got this stuff at the beginning of January and I absolutely love it. My lips always get super chapped in the winter and so I heard really good things about this gloss and I will forever use it. It also smells amazing-like coconuts! I have only seen it online though, not in any stores.

2. BP. Beanie You truly can never have enough beanies, right? This is for sure one of my favorite purchases for the month because I have worn it like a million times already. I love that it says “brrrr” on it, that just makes it stand out from all the other beanies. This is a must if you are looking for a super cute beanie.

3. Planner So yes I love the Erin Condren but they are a little pricy. I found this planner at Target and it is perfect. It has a day on each page and so much room. It is only $20, great price!

4. Kize Bar- These are so yummy. The texture is seriously so perfect. They have anywhere from 4-8 ingredients. I have not been feeling the Quest bars anymore, and moved to the Kize bars. I recommend these bars 100%. They are a perfect size and are also great for kids because of such few ingredients in them. My favorite are the PB Chocolate Chip & the Cookie Dough.

5.Fabletics So I caved and am doing the monthly subscription. Where I get a new outfit every month. I am actually really excited because their clothing is so cute & unique. AND the first 2 pairs of leggings are 2 for $24. Like tell me thats not the best thing you have ever heard!

6. Adidas NMDs Ok. I know I am super late in the game, I just received my first pair of NMDs… thx babe. But I am obsessed. They are seriously so comfy and so cute. These are worth the money, I promise you!

7. Adidas Ultraboost Oh my gosh…. even COMFIER! Is that even a word? Well, I am making it a word because seriously.. the best shoes I have ever worn. Thx again babe! I am so happy that I finally got a pair of these, you can bet that you will only see me in these two pairs of shoes!

8. Workout Bands These will forever be my favorite. They help activate the glutes so much! They are super easy to pack and when you are traveling and you don’t have time to go to the gym, do a quick band workout in your hotel room. These are going with me to NYC! I just purchased mine off amazon, but the next time that Katy Hearn releases hers, I am getting one!

9. Sunglasses I got these black sunglasses from Zaful and I love them! I didn’t expect to much since they were under $8 but they are actually amazing. I have been wearing them nonstop lately!

10. Bar Cart I have been wanting a bar cart for like ever I feel like and I finally got one and this one is absolutely perfect and I am so happy I finally found this one. It was one of the ones that was the best price I could find! Under $160.. that is super hard to find especially if you are looking for a gold one.

Bikini Girl Diaries week 5 update. I did great this week even with it being by birthday on Saturday. I made sure I tried to track as good as I possibly could. We went to Texas De Brazil for dinner and then had wine and cake at the apartment with the family. Cake is hard to track but I tried to find the best thing I could on My Fitness Pal.

Last week my weight was 135. This week my weight is 135.6

I have a goal of hitting 130-131 by week 9. So the end of February. If I stick to my macros, workouts, and cardio I know that I will. I am just nervous because we are going to New York on Sunday so it will be hard not to eat certain things but I am going to do everything in moderation and try and order as healthy as possible. It is easy if you can find restaurants that are in My Fitness Pal.

I am still doing cardio twice a week and still have my two high carb days. Everything has been going very good and I am happy to see how I look in a month. I will upload comparison pictures soon!

5 Healthy Habits + Bikini Girl Diaries Week 4

Bikini Girl Diaries week 4 update coming at ya!!

So… I got food poisoning from I think Kona Grill eating chicken. Chicken is like my main source of protein and now what the heck. I can’t even smell chicken, it makes me gag.

I had Kona of Friday night and as soon as I woke up Saturday morning I could tell something was off. I was so nauseous and my stomach hurt so bad.
It was my friend’s birthday and we were taking a spin class that morning. I felt so sick when I got there and then it was time for class and the entire time during class I felt so sick. I could not pedal as fast or do all the movements. I ended up leaving class 5 minutes early because I thought I was going to throw up.

When we were taking pictures after spin I could barley stand up. So I left, went straight home, showered, and went to sleep. I woke up and Jake was home from Austin to take care of me.
I forced myself  to eat my normal breakfast that morning which was oats, PB, and egg whites. For the rest of the day I could not eat anything and then finally around 8:30, I felt like I could eat some fruit. So I had some strawberries and banana.

Saturday and Sunday I was unable to do my normal workouts which sucked but I was not able to. Listening to your body is the best thing.

But other than that I hit my macros. Last week I weighed 137.4 and this week I weighed 135.0!!

Also on Tuesday I took my first ever pilates class at BodyBar Fitness. I loved it. A mini goal of mine is to try new fitness activities. So pilates was one of them and it challenged my body. I am not use to that and I am so sore from it. It also probably wasn’t the best idea taking that class on leg day lol.

Today I thought I would share 5 healthy habits. Since it is still basically the new year, I thought this would be perfect.

  1. Find YOUR healthy eating style. Just because I eat a certain way doesn’t mean that works for you. It is all about balance. If you have been good all week and you are craving that cheat meal. GO eat that meal. You have to be happy with what you are eating and not miserable. Be happy & healthy with the way you are eating.
  2. Always be happy and positive. Just because you gained a pound this week doesn’t mean you should be hard on yourself and think negatively. If you know in your head that you had a really great week with training and eating, then that is all that matters. My weight fluctuates all the time. But I try my best to stay positive and always be happy with what I am doing.
  3. Drink more water. I cannot express how important it is to drink water. I always make sure I am drink 4.5-6 liters a day. Not saying you have to drink that much but there a million benefits to why drinking a lot of water a day is so beneficial for you.
  4. Be active. Everyone likes working out in different ways. Some people love yoga, lifting weights, cardio, pilates, zumba, or whatever it is. Whatever you like and what works for you stick to it. Find what you enjoy doing that is active.
  5. Quality sleep. Sleep is very important to your body. Not only will you be cranky and moody if your don’t get sleep but then you will have zero energy for anything else. Your body will thank you later for getting the right amount of sleep you need.
